Blueberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients

1 (14 ounce) can frozen blueberries, thawed

1 (12 fluid ounce) can orange juice concentrate

2 teaspoons lemon juice

Directions

Fill a blender with ice and pour in blueberries. Stir until the blueberries are watery.

Stir in orange juice concentrate and lemon juice. Smooth and pour into glasses. Chill in refrigerator.

A smoothie has to have some thickness and texture, and this recipe calls for no frozen fruit, so in that respect, its not really a smoothie to me, just a fruit-yogurt drink. I did add quite a bit of crushed ice which didnt dilute the flavor it too badly, used vanilla Greek yogurt and pomegranate-blueberry juice chilled overnight, then added fresh fruit -- one heaping tsp of pure vanilla and a teaspoon of almond extract. I ran out of simple syrup though, so I added a vanilla-flavored milk shake. I also added a scant tablespoon of almond extract for texture, a scant tablespoon of both flake and mesh and a scant tablespoon of vanilla. To make things easy, I scooped the mixture into little pucks (like a pat of butter) and put it in a freezer compartment under the ice cold tap water for at least 3 hours.
