1 cup white rice
1/2 cup uncooked white rice
1/2 cup uncooked low-fat milk (see Note)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups crushed garlic, crushed
1 onion, diced
1/4 cup cooked beef
1/4 cup cooked spaghetti
1 1/2 cups crushed cornflakes cereal
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
In a large bowl, mix rice, milk, salt, pepper, oil, garlic, onion and beef. Fold in pasta, cornflakes and celery. Pour into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with parsley.
Bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour or until rice is tender. Serve hot or cold.
This is a fantastic recipe! Very tasty. I did sub for cream of mushroom soup since I was out of cream of chicken. My kids do not like broccoli rice, so I left out the onion. I did add the blue cheese, but that is just personal preference. I will make this again.
This was ok--in basic terms, it was decent. I made simple dishes that could be done within a week and most people got frustrated by the ingredients in the last 10 minutes. I made it using only 1 cup of rice (not including the water), 1/2 onion, and skipped the tomatoes. For the last 10 minutes, I baked it in a deeper dish (in a deeper dish, I mean... deeper than a broiler), basting every 30 seconds with a paper towel. I ended up buying another box of rice, so it was probably a little bit work spreading the rice, but everything else was really good. I did it in a lasagna casserole dish, so there'd be no mess. My husband liked it best if it was just baked in a preheated oven for the last 30 minutes.
