1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 pound lean ground beef
8 slices bacon
1 teaspoon paprika
salt and pepper to taste
4 slices white bread, halved
8 slices white bread, cut into 1 inch cubes
3 pounds lean ground beef
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl, mix the oil, beef, bacon, paprika, salt and pepper. Mix well and pour mixture into the prepared loaf pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 75 minutes, basting every 15 minutes with the broiler pan juices.
Bake for another 15 minutes.
Remove loaf from baking pan, shake and toss with bread cubes. Brush meatloaf liberally with egg and bacon juices, and sprinkle with bread cubes. Top with remaining bread cubes.
Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and continue baking for 15 more minutes.
