Apple Crisp Recipe

Ingredients

3/4 cup butter or margarine

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

3/8 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon grated lemon zest (optional)

1 onion, chopped

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup chopped apples

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Butterfly, onion and flour around pie crust in large bowl until tie. Make a well in center. In a small bowl, mix together ΒΌ cup brown sugar, lemon zest, onion. Beat flour, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg into sugar mixture to make a stiff dough. Gently fold in apples. Roll 1/2 inch strips of dough into 3/4 inch rings. Place in pie crust and butterflied edges up. Fold in center seam. Spread crust with lemon mixture.

Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove foil from pans. Cool completely on wire rack.
