5 medium spiced potatoes, peeled and cubed

1 cup sliced almonds
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup beef broth
1/2 pound shredded Swiss cheese
Pour water into a pot and stir. heat to bubbly, stirring occasionally.
After about 50 minutes, remove potatoes from water and set aside. Crush almonds; set aside.
Place water, 2 cups water, sliced almonds and brown sugar into pot. Bring to a boil. Cover pot and reduce heat. Simmer 15 minutes.
Stir in salt, brown sugar, salt, nutmeg, broth and cheese. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring frequently, until heated through.
