1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup sliced almonds
3 cups milk chocolate syrup
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) round pans.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside. In a saucepan, bring the oil to a boil. Heat the white sugar, stirring constantly, until a golden brown. Mix in the eggs, one at a time, then pour into the flour mixture. Mix in the flour mixture.
Sift together the sugar, eggs, vanilla, and almonds. Pour into the prepared pan, spreading the batter evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
To make the chocolate syrup: In a small saucepan, mix the white sugar, milk, eggs, vanilla, and almonds. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture begins to thicken. Remove from heat and pour into the chilled cake. Chill in refrigerator before serving.
