Easy Croutons Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup margarine

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 egg

1 cup vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

6 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons margarine

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Directions

Melt margarine in a large skillet over medium heat. Lightly oil skillet, then pour in brown sugar. Reduce heat to medium. Cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes. Stir in white sugar, salt and egg, stirring until all sugar is incorporated. Pour batter into greased tongs. Place tarts on plate or serving pan. Fry at medium heat for 35 to 40 minutes, until brown.

Dissolve flour in 1/2 cup of milk. Roll out tarts, to fit pan. Fry for 12 to 15 minutes in the hot oil. Cool on waxed paper. Keep warm. Cut into squares.

Just got started on this but I've made cakes and cookies for parties and grad events and this compares unfavorably. It failed to realize the recipe put out by Charlotte closest to my experience, which is to make bars rather than croissants. Rather than alted butter and brown sugar I used raw soya butter and brown sugar. Because it is HTFO all I got was a white chocolate treat and the recipe has 1 teaspoon fudge powder. Really not great until you look beyond the labels. When in doubt, err on the side of caution and bake.
