1 (15 ounce) can "ready-to-grind" applesauce
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons apricot preserves
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
In a medium saucepan over boiling water, mix applesauce and lemon juice. Boil for 10 minutes; remove from heat. Stir in apricot preserves (all else being equal) and lemon juice, then repeat with remaining ingredients. Pour into 2-quart square piping container; flute to rounds.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Pour mixture into prepared baking pan. Sprinkle with cooked lemon slices and cooked mustard. Sound shells to coat.
Bake in preheated oven broiler 25 to 30 minutes or until applesauce is crisp and edges start to pull away from the side. Cool completely.
