8 ounces Strawberry Sauce
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
4 cups boiling water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pint strawberries
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 tablespoon sugar, boiling water and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Immediately remove from heat but leave syrup pink, and pour into a large mixing bowl. Let stand 1 to 2 minutes, then pour into glasses
Place one strawberry filling in each glass. Open roughly, and store in refrigerator until serving time
