1/3 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/3 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9-in. round loaf pans.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, vanilla extract and flour until smooth. Beat in the baking soda, baking powder and salt. Roll out and place into prepared pans. Brush topping over bread.
Bake in preheated oven for 500 to 600 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Slice along edges to prevent sticking.
these were delicious and easy--but watch out for the baking soda!
