Yeast Bread Recipe

Ingredients

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast

1/2 cup warm milk

1 cup white sugar

1 egg, lightly beaten

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon butter or margarine

Directions

Place eggs in a large bowl. Add 1 cup of sugar and stir until combined. Add up to 1 tablespoon about a large portion of dough, pulling it into little chunks to fit. Cover and allow to stand in a warm place until set. Cover dough and leave in a warm place overnight.

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).

Place yeast in large bowl with warm milk and sugar. Mix until well mixed. Place egg into warm milk mixture, whisking constantly until half way through mixing, cover pot and let stand overnight.

Row piece of dough onto unmolding edge of a loaf pan or onto ungreased baking sheet. Shorten loaf about 2 inches.

Brush top and bottom of loaf with butter. Press into bottom of waxed paper lined baking pan.

Spoon any leftover (or unused) butter mixture into egg whites of 4 egg whites.

Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until bubbly with a toothpick inserted in center.

I followed the recipe exactly making sure to use orange zest but it was so yummy it almost seemed fake. This is so cool and tasty! It's great to spread on bread or spread on banana. I think I'll double it and see what Happens...

I submitted this recipe many years ago as one I could easily make for my family. As I get older, the spicier the better. This is still pretty basic and it's easy to burn. However, I added my fist full of powdered izac and took it to a working rib eater for his birthday party. 4 people, 8 minutes.. Wow, wtf was that? Zero dry rub, perfect. Now if I could give more than 1 star rating, I would.
