4 eggs
1/2 cup butter, melted
3/4 cup milk
1 1/4 cups white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon saltine cracker crumbs
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chopped almonds
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1 cup maple syrup
1 cup confectioners' sugar for dusting
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, milk, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Combine the milk, 2 1/2 cups brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar and vanilla; stir into the creamed mixture. Mix in the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Finally, stir in the cracker crumbs and chopped nuts. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly browned. Cookies should be very slightly golden. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with confectioners' sugar before removing from cookie sheet.
