1 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup oats
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup chopped pecans
Heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Beat butter, brown sugar, egg and vanilla in small bowl. Stir together oats, sugar, almond extract and walnuts; gently fold into pastry. Divide dough into 2 pieces. Roll each piece into a 6x6 inch square. Place squares on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake in preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake an additional 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool completely.
I followed the recipe exactly--I used raw sesame seeds, but all that trouble I went through to get them to grow on my property made these to order, and they were expensive--so there was no return on my investment.
