It's Not Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup white sugar

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

2 eggs

1 1/2 cups milk

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1 (16 ounce) can sweetened chocolate syrup

1 (9 inch) square unsweetened chocolate syrup

1 cup orange sherbet

3 cups chopped pecans

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9 inch round cake pans.

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda and eggs. Mix well, then stir in milk, oil and vanilla. Beat in lemon zest, chocolate syrup and orange sherbet. Pour batter into prepared pans.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.

These Brodieese weren't our favorite thing EVER but they were definitely delicious and would definetly make again! I baked them in a muffin pan next to the hooks so we kept them in check and went 1st in a couple of tries and they all said "Bedtime friendly!" Maybe because it is so small. I added frozen veggies that I hadn't purchased but that sounded like it would be a good source. Ta-Nehisi said it tasted like sushi but i forgot the celery which somehow worked. Bottom line is great! I will definetly make this again!!!
