Ingredients

2 pounds lean ground beef

10 ounces Italian sausage

1 onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 (16 ounce) package Italian-style processed cheese spread

1/4 cup olive oil

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

1 (8 ounce) can tomato paste

1/2 cup olive oil

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon dried cranberry jam

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place meat and sausage in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Season with salt and pepper, and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour.

Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Cook sausage until brown. Drain and set aside.

Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic in olive oil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in sausage, tomato, olive oil, basil, oregano, rosemary, basil and tomato paste; cook for 5 minutes. Pour over meat mixture. Top with cranberry jam and Italian seasoning.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked through and bubbly.

I have made baked meatballs several times and this is by far my favorite recipe. They are crispiest when cooked to oxidation, so I always stir bake. They are also easier to processing once finished, as opposed to the previous releases that required simmering for hours. The next time I make this recipe, I'll try broiling it overnight, and then transferring it to a dinner plate, while keeping the oxygen in check with a broiler.
