Bavarian Lemon Cake Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup margarine

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup shortening

1/2 cup lemon juice

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup packed light brown sugar

3 egg whites

1/4 teaspoon lemon zest

3 drops orange juice

1 teaspoon lemon water

1 cup water

1 cup egg whites

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1/2 cup peach preserves

1 cup peaches and cherries, pitted and sliced

1 M&M's, for garnish

Directions

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (220 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) round cake pans.

In a large bowl, cream together the margarine, shortening and lemon juice until smooth. Beat in the flour, brown sugar, eggs and lemon zest. Mix in the lemon juice, orange juice and lime zest. Finally, stir in the brown sugar mixture (if desired). Drop whipped topping into batter various recipes, adding the leftover juice if desired.

Bake for 60 minutes in the preheated oven; do not brown your crust. Cool completely. Garnish with peaches, peach preserves, 2 M&M's or graham crackers, peaches and cherries on top. Serve warm or at room temperature.
