2 teaspoons lemon zest
1 cup fresh lemonade
6 cups water
8 cups white sugar
2 oranges, peeled and segmented
1 cup orange juice
2 cups strawberries
1 cup ice cubes
In a heavy skillet over medium heat, bring lemon zest and lemonade to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour lemonade slowly into a separate small bowl and whisk into lemon zest. Stir in water and sugar. Stir gently until mixture coats the back of a metal spoon. Pour mixture into the pan of a double boiler or over ice cubes in glasses. Chill in refrigerator.
When ice cubes are soft and ready to be packed, gently shake each cube one at a time into the lemonade to coat. Serve immediately.
