1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 tablespoons butter, melted
8 cloves garlic, crushed
1 (16 ounce) can mushrooms
1 1/2 cups lean ground beef
1 (8 ounce) package shredded mozzarella cheese
1 (16 ounce) can canned mushrooms, drained
1 (8 ounce) can tomato soup
1 (16 ounce) can veal cut or vacuum-packed tomato soup
salt and pepper to taste
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Boil onion in oil for 5 minutes. Stir egg and coat with egg mixture. Stir in 3 tablespoons oil. Pour butter mixture into skillet and stir just to moisten. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove skillet from oil.
Stir garlic into onion mixture, stirring until well coated. Stir in mushrooms and ground beef. Stir in cheese; cook and stir just to moisten.
Stir 4 to 5 tablespoons tomato soup into skillet. Saute over low heat, stirring constantly, until vegetables begin to soften. Stir in tomato soup, tomatoes and cooked egg mixture. Spread mixture over the bottom of a large serving bowl.
Top with veal cut or vacuum-packed tomato soup and tomato soup. Garnish with mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, tomato soup, cheese curds and assorted mushrooms.
I changed the recipe to use Wonder Bread. It is much, much tastier and doesn't burn as quickly. I did like this much more than the recipe stated.
We had to go apple pie- I mean, who doesn't like apple pie? But, my French friends insisted, that means apricots, not cranberries! Which is why I always end up with a rue rating it at 70/30 (almost certain it would have been better without the sugar). Probably won't make it again, but would have given it 10 stars, even if it said "Apricots" instead of "passion fruit".
great preach you can tweak it to taste but this did not change a thing i made it tasted JUST like Adam Jones.
Great recipe (1939) with changes, only changes I made was to add a tsp or so of chili powder, and maybe some chopped green onions. It turned out fantastic, just like grandma used to make it. A great family favorite!
This is a fish that tastes good both before and after it has been cooked. Preach on the Grill is the first truly healthy protein shake Ever. It contains all the proteins you'll need to get you started in the morning, and then some extra thick yogurt to finish the dish off. I didn't add the dry italian dressing, thought that would be too much for one small salad, and ended up adding 2 slices of cheese on the top- kept it pretty! Next time I make this, I'm going to add more cheese, as it was a very nice flavor addition. Thanks for the recipe, Denise!
