1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup butter
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 scoops Italian-style dry vermouth or Fanta
1 1/2 tablespoons orange juice
1 egg
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil. Stir in the butter, onion and garlic. Simmer over medium heat for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Stirring constantly, slowly add the dry vermouth and orange juice while stirring. Season with egg, chicken broth, water and salt. Simmer and stir until well combined.
Lower heat and simmer about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar. Heat to about 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
I made this quick, easy appetizer for a party and they disappeared very quickly. Several people asked me for the recipe. I would probably make it again.
