2 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
Warm water in a large pot over medium heat. Add the oil, and stir. Add the chicken and brown sugar. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 7 to 8 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the broth, salt, baking powder, and nutmeg; simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the brown sugar mixture and chicken broth. Simmer for 6 minutes, stirring constantly. Add chicken mixture and salt. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add brown sugar mixture and bread crumbs. Return the chicken and sauce mixture to a simmer for 5 minutes, turning frequently.
Stir chicken mixture into the pot. Add brown sugar mixture and cooked chicken. Season with nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
Return sauce to a heat and stir in nutmeg mixture and chickpeas. Increase heat and stir constantly until sauce reaches desired consistency.
