1/4 cup water
1/4 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped walnuts
Fill a small saucepan with cold water. Bring water, sugar, butter, cornstarch, baking soda and egg to a boil. Stir, reduce heat to low and simmer 90 minutes. Stir in vinegar and vanilla. Bring to a slow boil, stirring constantly, stirring frequently. Bring to a slow boil, stirring constantly, stirring constantly. Boil 15 minutes, scraping sides of pan. Remove from heat. Cool. Stir in nuts and walnuts. Adjust salt and sugar levels. Chill.
