2 pounds lean ground beef
1 (12 fluid ounce) can condensed beef broth
2 cups dry bread crumbs
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup salt
ground black pepper to taste
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/3 cup buttermilk
1 cup white sugar
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C.)
Place ground beef in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside.
In a small bowl, combine beef broth, bread crumbs, celery, salt, pepper and buttermilk. Mix together well then (with a fork) coat whole wheat with beaten egg. Press all ingredients into a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until top is golden brown and bottom of loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
