Cinnamon Streusel Topping Recipe

Ingredients

1 (16 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon white sugar

2 cups ground cinnamon

1 1/4 cups packed light brown sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

4 egg whites

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Beat the cream cheese and baking soda in a medium-size mixing bowl until smooth. Beat in the sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Slowly mix in the dry ingredients until well blended.

Beat egg whites into the cream cheese mixture until stiff. Transfer this mixture to a small bowl. Cover the dough and refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Roll out the pastry and cut into a circle 1/3 inch thick. Place the cream cheese mixture on the bottom of each pastry circle. Trim the edges of the pastry circles to fit around the cream cheese filling.

Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 8 hours, or until golden brown.
