Easy Apple Meringue Pie Recipe

Ingredients

1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

1 (3 ounce) package instant Meringue

1 cup white sugar

1 egg

2 teaspoons apple pie spice

1 cup butter

3/4 cup brown sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 (8 ounce) can evaporated milk

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Remove foil from pie crust. Place 2 teaspoons Meringue on bottom of pie. Place 1/2 teaspoon sugar and 3/4 cup butter on bottom of pie. Spread apple pie spice over top. Place remaining tablespoon of Meringue over apple pie; sprinkle all over apple pie.

Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes.

(Optional) Cut the crust into squares; place meringue on top of pie. Cool for 5 minutes.

Remove foil and place meringue on pie. Bake for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely. Garnish with optional orange slice.

To make the Meringue: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, egg, apple pie spice and butter; mix well. Fold into caramel pie filling. Place remaining 2 teaspoons Meringue over pie; frost top of pie. Cover loosely with aluminum foil and refrigerate for several hours, or overnight.

I LUVED this recipe , but SOMEHOW, it wasn't enough. I think because I didn't have any minced garlic, I didn't know how to get it. I used red pepper flakes and hope that worked for me. I will definately make this again.
