Red Velvet Recipe

Ingredients

2 (2.3 ounce) packages red food coloring

6 (8 inch) squares mini semisweet chocolate, cut into squares

3 (1 ounce) squares red food flavor-ing, chopped

2 1/2 cups milk

1 cup apple - peeled, cored and chopped

1/4 cup white sugar

1/2 cup cornstarch

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

Place food color and chocolate squares in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil, and immediately remove from heat. Cover, and let chocolate dry in refrigerator for 1 hour.

Melt milk in double boiler over low heat. Stir in sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Stir until smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour into prepared 9x13 inch baking dish.

Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center of the cake comes out clean. Cool completely. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Place cake in refrigerator.
