4 cups cake flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup unsalted butter
1 1/3 cups water
1 (6 ounce) package prosciutto pasta
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 10-inch spring or ceramic dessert plate. Sift the flour, and set aside.
In a large bowl, sift together the baking soda and salt. Set aside. In a large bowl, sift together the brown sugar and egg. Beat in the flour mixture, one at a time, while continuing to stir. Finally, stir in the vanilla and melted butter. Stir just until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Pour batter into prepared pan, and sprinkle the prosciutto over the top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
To make the Cream of Celery: In a saucepan over medium heat, stir together 1/3 cup butter, 1/3 cup water, 3 eggs and the vanilla. Whisk until smooth. Meanwhile, prepare the celery sauce: In a small bowl, stir together 1/2 cup celery salt, 3/4 cup white sugar, and 1 egg. Whisk in the milk and vanilla; pour over the cake.
