1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup milk
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup chicken broth
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
water for filling
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Saute flour in a large pot of water until just tender, 2 minutes. Stir in sugar, cinnamon and milk. Bring to boil, then reduce heat to low, let simmer for 20 minutes or until flour is completely absorbed.
In a small bowl or ziplock bag combine broth, 2 tablespoons sugar, 3/4 of a cup of milk, 3 tablespoons cream cheese, 1/2 of a cup of chicken broth, 3 tablespoons confectioners' sugar and 1 (12 fluid ounce) can fruit cocktail. Add the remainder of milk, 1/2 cup cream cheese, 1/2 cup chicken broth and remaining 1/2 cup cream cheese mixture. Simmer, covered, for another 20 to 30 minutes or until all liquid is absorbed and all cream cheese mixture is blended. Serve warm with chilled fruit cocktail.
