1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1 cup water
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 cup hot wine
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (4 ounce) can tomato paste with juice
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Place meat in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Unroll meat, cutting all but the fat into the center.
Bake at 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, in large skillet, cook onion in olive oil over medium heat until tender; drain.
While meat is baking, combine tomato paste and hot wine. Bring water and tomato paste to a boil. Stir in chili powder, oregano and hot wine. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir beef mixture into meatballs. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes. Reduce heat to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and bake an additional 30 minutes, or until meat is no longer pink. Serve warm.
