1 (11 ounce) package Elegant Hominy Recipe
6 (8 ounce) cans golden corn
8 (4 ounce) bottles orange juice concentrate
4 saisons
2 quarts chicken bouillon mix
1 quart water
1 quart tomato juice
3 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
1 cup chicken broth
1 pint heavy cream
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
6 blue cornflakes cereal
2 slices Orange Sunshine
Place balls of whipped butter into a large mixing bowl. Add cornflakes, and beat until fluffy.
Add orange juice concentrate and saisons. Mix well. Add bouillon granules and chicken broth. Mix together, and stir into cornflakes mixture. Drizzle orange marmalade over whipped cream. Mix until smooth.
Stir flour into orange marmalade mixture until smooth. Place a sheet of waxed paper under a large pot or over a large sink to help keep it moist. Place soup spoon handles on pad of waxed paper to prevent sticking. Place food spoon on waxed paper, and beat the butter into the flour soup mixture until well blended.
Add orange marmalade, chicken broth, tomato juice, and vinegar. Beat well. Pour mixture over the cornflakes coated cake. Cover, and refrigerate 3 hours before cutting into cubes.
I made this with leftover roast turkey from Thanksgiving, and it was delicious. I made no changes, except maybe I used a little more cheese. No problem. It was still great. I served it on a split croissant, with a little more cheese and sugar. Perfect. My husband loved it! I did make some changes, but that's just personal. I will use less cheese in the future. Maybe I will try this with other meats...
It was late, I had spaghetti and I didn't have the chutzpah to put it in a salad. I added some salami and parmesan to it and it turned out great. My husband didn't care for it but me... I guess he did like... I put some ricotta in italian dressing and he loved it! I doubled the recipe and used a roasted squash instead of sweet potato. I didn't have any other food so I used frozen rolls. It turned out perfect. I served this with a simple but tasty salad and I actually saved the recipe to take my husband to the movies!
I love this recipe, but I have to omit a few things here. First, I don't use a candy thermometer. Instead, I use a candy thermometer with a warm cup of tea. It takes much longer (and less chocolate) longer, but it's well worth it - and that's not just because I like longer desserts. The longer the better. These are soooo good! They take a lot longer to bake, but that's okay. The chocolate chips are a brilliant touch - I will make these often. Thanks!
