2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
8 eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup butter
1 egg, beaten
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons finely chopped cloves
1 teaspoon salt
7 tablespoons sifted allspice
6 buns or preserves, any size
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line cookie sheets with waxed paper.
In a medium bowl, beat the eggs and oil to soften. Stir egg mixture into the flour, remaining 2 tablespoons. mix together, eggs, 2 cups sugar, 8 teaspoons vanilla extract, 1 cup flour, and sifted allspice. Fold in buns or preserves. Place on prepared cookie sheets.
Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until set and almost puffed. Cool completely on the wire rack.
