Apple Salsa Recipe

Ingredients

For the salsa:

1/2 apple

1 tomato, thinly sliced

1 (6 ounce) can diced green chile peppers, drained

1 (3 ounce) package deli-style baguette mix

1/4 cup chopped fresh onion

8 tomato plants, halved and seeded

1 green bell pepper, chopped

1 green bell pepper, chopped

1 green bell pepper, seeded and diced

1/2 red bell pepper, chopped

1 pinch ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1 tablespoon lime juice

1 (16 ounce) can sliced ripe olives

Directions

Combine the apple, tomato, chile peppers, white sugar, lemon juice, black pepper, pepper flakes, lime juice and olives in a large bowl. Mix well and refrigerate for one hour.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Place a cup of water in shallow dish to the left of a baking dish.

Beat together the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Turn a little bit, until the dough is well blended.

Roll out 6 to 8 sheets of aluminum foil. Place one slice in the bottom of foil, and then several sticks at one end to secure onto foil. Spread 3/4 of the apple mixture inside foil, and seal foil seams. Spread remaining apple mixture in center of foil package.

Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the foil is golden warm. Remove foil and let plum juices pour into pan.

Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, mix together lime juice, orange zest, lemon juice, honey, orange zest and grated lemon peel; pour over the fruit mixture throughout. Refrigerate while serving.
