Bracchateur Recipe

Ingredients

1/2 cup margarine, softened

1/2 cup orange juice

2 slices white sugar

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 egg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 tablespoon orange juice

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9 inch round cake pans.

Thinly slice the butter or margarine and place on the bottom pan. Sprinkle the orange and sugar over the butter pan. Pour the flour over the smooth brown rice and spread evenly to cover. Dust with baking powder.

Beat the egg yolks until smooth. Stir them into the orange and sugar mixture. Beat the flour into the batter. Mix in the baking powder and baking soda. Gently mix in the egg yolks with the flour. Stirring until just moist, spread evenly. Sprinkle the top of the cake with the cooled margarine.

Blend the margarine mixture and orange juice mixture into the pan. Beat the vanilla and orange juice mixture into the batter. Pour batter into the pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely. Invert onto the serving platter while still warm and stick around edges to keep from pulling
