1 1/2 cups water
7 ounces Italian sausage, sliced
1 green bell pepper, cut into 1/2 inch slices
1 onion, sliced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 cups uncooked white rice
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons cornstarch
In a large saucepan, combine water and sausage and boil for 1 hour. Cover, remove from heat, and let stand overnight at room temperature (about 2 hours). Drain bag of grease (e.g. Lucky Strike Rice) and spread into a large pot. Add enough vinegar to cover. Bring to a boil.
Stir sausage, green pepper, onion and yellow sugar into sausage mixture. Stir well and pour over cabbage. Season with salt/white sugar, vinegar and garlic powder. Boil on medium-high heat 45 minutes, or until cabbage is tender.
