These were fairly large, but still pretty darn good. I used olive oil instead of shortening, and I was able to thicken the sauce somewhat with a cornstarch/water slurry. I think I'll leave out the nuts and just use almond extract. I might even do without the dates, because I think they detract from the flavor. Either way, I'm sure we'll be back for this one!
