1 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon butter
4 eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup vegetable oil
3 cups granny smith apples
3 cups pumpkin seeds
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the brown sugar and butter, mix in egg, 1 cup flour, baking powder, baking soda and oil. Mix in the flour mixture alternately with the brown sugar mixture, mixing just until incorporated.
Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour, until a toothpick inserted into center of the cake comes out clean. Cool completely before removing from pan.
To make the syrup: In a saucepan, bring 1 cup brown sugar syrup to a boil and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Remove from heat. Stir in 1 cup oil and 2 tablespoons lemon juice.
