Mama's German Cheesecake Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup butter

3 cups white sugar

3 eggs, beaten

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup cherry pie filling

1 (18 ounce) can cherry pie filling

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, eggs, flour, baking powder, nutmeg and salt until smooth. Beat in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture, stirring constantly. Beat in the cherry filling. Pour batter into crust.

Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes, or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool and frost with cream cheese frosting.

To make the cream cheese frosting: In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Beat in cream cheese, cherry pie filling and vanilla. Frost cooled cheesecake. Cool completely.
