Original Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

1 1/8 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 cup shortening

1 cup packed light brown sugar

3 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups rolled oats

1 cup chopped pecans

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1 cup chocolate glaze

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets and line with parchment paper. Mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt, set aside.

Heat the shortening in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar and brown sugar; stir gently into the shortening mixture. Return mixture to medium heat and stir into the brown sugar and brown sugar mixture. Remove from heat and stir in pecans. Stir in chocolate chips and chocolate glaze; pour into the prepared cookie sheets.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until light brown. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
