1/2 cup butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 (16 ounce) can sliced fresh dates
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until smooth. Beat in the flour, baking soda, lemon juice and nuts. Stir the batter into the prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean, about 20 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from pan. Serve warm.
