1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup vegetable oil
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs, lightly beaten
4 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chocolate flaked coconut
1/2 cup butter
Preheat the broiler.
In a large bowl, combine sugar, baking powder, salt, flour and cocoa; stir until well blended: Spread mixture into a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Place the cornflakes in the pan. Bake uncovered. Cool before discarding. In a pan or large metal bowl, cream together the butter and oil; blend well. Beat in egg and oil; gradually pour over cornflakes. Smash together flour and baking soda; stir into creamed mixture. Spread top with remaining tablespoon butter. Brush with remaining sugar if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.
