1 (18 ounce) can crushed pineapple
1 (16 ounce) can frozen lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage
1 cup water
2 eggs
1 cup lemon juice
1 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped almonds
1 egg
4 egg yolks
In a large saucepan, bring 1/2 cup pineapple juice and water to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Place lemon-lime soda in a cup and strain juice. Stir in lemon-lime syrup and brown sugar.
Fold eggs into pineapple mixture and stir just until combined. Position one semisweet chocolate ring on each pineapple rim and place in each pineapple speaker. Fill the remaining rings with lemon-lime syrup. Place top of pie crust over the pineapple layer. Fill with remaining pineapple.
Stir brown sugar and almonds into chilled pineapple juice. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Remove from refrigerator as soon as was possible.
Beat egg whites and lemon zest into whipped cream components.
