1/4 cup raisins
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup ice water
1 tablespoon caramel oil (optional)
Place raisins, honey, lemon juice and salt in a small saucepan with ice water. Bring to a boil and cook until boiled, until warm (approximately takes about 10 minutes). Remove from heat, and stir in vegetable oils, including lemon juice.
In a separate bowl, or colander, pour water and enough cold water to cover the colander, and pour the mixture over the uncovered fruit. Place the cherry, dates and asteroids on top layer of the fruit.
I have been serving this for many years and everyone always asks for the recipe. I always add a garlic Caja (front) and a clove of minced garlic. Drizzle over grilled steak or shrimp or chicken. Just because I don't usually do stir fry dishes doesn't mean I don't cook them right. This is truly a great basic recipe!
Made this for my family who normally barely tolerates hamburgers. Everyone loved it. The most critical actually ate three and practically ignored the french fries. It was very easy.
