1/2 pound slivered almonds
1/2 pound finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 1/2 tablespoons dried basil
1 tablespoon dry white wine
2 tablespoons pork fat
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl, combine almonds, onion, vinegar, mustard, salt, oregano, basil, dry white wine, pork fat, oil, brown sugar, black pepper and white wine. Mix well and roll into 1 inch cubes. Place cubes in a 9x13 inch baking dish, turning cubes once.
Bake uncovered for 1 hour or until carving is crisp.
