3 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate, chopped
1 (4 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, sliced
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
5 cups butter
1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup milk
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 tablespoon lemon zest
1 cup orange juice
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 9x13 inch pan with aluminum foil.
In a large glass or metal bowl, microwave chocolate for about an hour, stirring frequently, until chocolate is melted and smooth.
In a medium bowl, combine chocolate, maraschino cherries, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Pour orange juice/juice over chocolate mixture. Mix until smooth, fold chocolate mixture into chocolate mixture until well combined. Spread evenly in the prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely on wire rack. Reserve candy for special occasions.
