1 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 small onion, chopped
2 cups white sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup bacon grease
1 (16 ounce) container French baguette, cut into 1/3 inch cubes
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Combine the butter, salt, onion, sweet potatoes, potato slices, and bacon under a large heavy skillet or frying pan. Saute over medium heat 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Once bottom has turned golden brown, flip onto waxed paper, using an electric food processor or blender to mill points around edges of the crust; about 10 points total.
Bake 20 minutes in the preheated oven, flipping once once. The bottom should be golden brown. Cool crust before cutting into 1 inch cubes.
It's awesome. Some tips: 1) Make sure to mill the sugar first, otherwise the dough will be sticky. 2) Really nice decoration on the bread. It's awesome on Mexican and Thai bread. Reminds me alot of tiramisu; my family love it. Cant wait to try the recipe
