1/2 cup margarine
2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup apple juice
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 (10 ounce) can sliced pears, drained
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
6 tablespoons white sugar
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons butter, melted
3 tablespoons cold milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Sprinkle margarine, sugar, vinegar, nutmeg and vanilla extract into 9 inch square pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour. Flip bread over and bake for an additional 20 to 25 minutes.
Meanwhile, heat the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Fry pears 5 minutes longer or until dark brown; remove from oven and keep warm. Stir together butter, pears and cream cheese until well blended.
Layer pears on a large baking sheet and brush with melted butter. Sprinkle creamed topping over the fruit.
Bake in preheated oven for 1 1 hour, or until pears are tender. Stir in cheeses and cream cheese and apple juice. Serve warm and sweet.
