Block Cake Recipe

Ingredients

1 (18 ounce) package yellow cake mix

2 (3 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix

3 cups milk

1 (3 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix

1/2 cup vegetable oil for frying

2 cups white sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 (1 ounce) cakecrust piece

1 tablespoon powdered sugar for frosting

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 1 (8 ounce) canning jars.

In a large bowl, mix together cake mix, vanilla pudding mix and milk. Beat in egg, oil and sugar until well blended. Beat in flour and potato starch. Stir cake batter into bottom of prepared jars. Bake for 8 minutes in the preheated oven.

Fry blocks in oil in 4 pans. While the blocks are being fried, press cereal jelly on the top setting. Remove the pan from the pans and transfer 1/2 of the sugar liquid to the jars to form a jelly. Place block in boiling water and stir evenly. When the gelatin turns to a deep amber color, the blocks should be pulled from the jars.
