2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (1.3 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
1/2 cup unsalted butter
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Stir together butter and sugar; set aside
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Gradually blend in pudding mix and spread evenly into greased 8 inch pie pan.
Bake 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, until the cake springs back when lightly tapped on the sides. Let cool in pan 5 minutes, then turn out onto wire rack and cool completely.
