1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup vegetable broth
1/2 cup sliced fresh Thai Bananas
3/4 cup water
1 cup chopped fresh nori seaweed
1 cup shiitake mushrooms
1/4 cup chopped fresh ginger root
1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
1 teaspoon fish sauce
3 teaspoons red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon honey
3 teaspoons distilled white vinegar
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 onion, cut into 1 inch wedges
In a large pot over medium heat, combine water and oil. Bring to a boil, then boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in broth, bananas, mushroom caps and water. Bring to a boil; simmer stirring. Add mushrooms, ginger and vinegar; boil for 5 minutes. Stir in fish sauce, red pepper flakes, honey, vinegar, chili powder, onion and rice. Boil for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
