Honey Nut Bars Recipe

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

5 tablespoons butter

8 teaspoons light brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 teaspoons lemon extract

2 1/2 cups honey roasted peanuts

2 2/3 cups sliced almonds

3 egg whites

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions

Preheat oven on broiler setting.

Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and butter in a large bowl. Stir to make a very smooth dough. Beat the eggs, 1 at a time, then stir in the brown sugar, holding in the flour mixture until well combined. Mix together the brown sugar, lemon extract and honey. Fold in the peanuts, almonds and pecans. Spread evenly into greased 2 inch squares. Place in the preheated oven. Broil until golden brown, about 1 minute. Cool on broiler rack. Serve hot or cold.
