2 tablespoons butter, divided
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
2/3 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup white sugar
3 cups whole milk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

12 bananas, sliced
In a large bowl, cream together the 2 tablespoons butter and yeast. Add the whole wheat flour, sugar, milk and eggs, mixing well. Stir the milk mixture into the creamed mixture until well combined. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Lightly oil low-level canning jars or pans, place the dusted bananas in and line with waxed paper or parchment; place in preheated oven.
Brush with butter and butter mixture after 8 to 10 minutes. Turn onto a wire rack and spray with hot water as needed to ensure even browning on bottom.
